Meet Ashley Baker, the Clinical Nursing Practice Director at Midland Care, whose leadership and passion shine through in every aspect of her work. From supporting the PACE nurses at all four centers to ensuring participants receive top-notch care, Ashley is a cornerstone of Midland Care’s commitment to quality.

Before joining Midland Care, Ashley was a nursing home administrator in Topeka, where she developed her expertise in healthcare management. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Baker University, laying the foundation for her career in clinical nursing leadership.

Ashley collaborates closely with PACE nurses in her current role, providing guidance and support. She has implemented several initiatives to foster a high standard of care for participants, such as regular training sessions and open communication channels. “I have the privilege of working closely with the PACE nurses to provide leadership and support while ensuring we provide quality care to the participants we serve,” Ashley shares. Lea Chaffee, Vice President and Executive Director of PACE, praises Ashley’s invaluable contributions: “Ashley Baker is the model of leadership within PACE and Midland Care. Ashley is exceptional at improving processes and working behind the scenes to ensure that PACE upholds the highest quality and service delivery standards. What Ashley enjoys most about working at Midland Care is the flexibility the PACE program offers. “There’s flexibility to care for participants without all the regulatory components or insurance restrictions,” she explains. “It also allows staff to truly focus on participant care needs.” She also highlights Midland Care’s employee benefits, noting the reasonable insurance costs for her family and the organization’s 403b match as standout perks.

Ashley was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas, within the Shawnee Heights school district, and still calls the area home. Outside of work, she’s a proud mom of three daughters and enjoys spending time with her husband of 12 years. Family time is a source of joy, especially when they gather with extended relatives to cheer on their beloved Kansas City Chiefs.

Ashley showcases her musical talents in her free time by playing the violin and singing in a mariachi band—a unique hobby that reflects her vibrant and optimistic personality.

Ashley’s optimism, self-motivation, collaboration, and passion are personal traits and shape her professional journey. Her family often remarks on her cheerful demeanor, asking, “Why are you always so happy and smiley?” She hopes others see her in the same light. “I have a lot in life to be thankful for,” Ashley says, a testament to her positive outlook and inspiring spirit. From her leadership at Midland Care to her personal life filled with music and family, Ashley Baker exemplifies the qualities of a dedicated and compassionate professional.
