Danielle McBurney: A Steady Force at Topeka PACE
Danielle McBurney, Assistant Center Administrator at Midland Care’s Topeka PACE Center, supports both participants and staff every day. Her healthcare experience and passion for helping others show in her steady leadership and positive attitude. Here’s a look at Danielle’s story, her connection to the PACE community, and what motivates her at work and at home.

Danielle McBurney helps keep the Midland Care Topeka PACE Center running smoothly. She supports staff and participants by assisting with care plans, handling administrative tasks, improving daily routines, and stepping in wherever needed—even driving for Transportation when called upon. Her flexibility and dedication truly reflect the spirit of the PACE program. Topeka PACE Center Administrator Brady Sorensen describes her impact best: “Danielle has worked with me not once, not twice, but three times—which should tell you how much I value her… and how patient she is. She’s exceptionally strong in many of the areas I struggle—basically, she fills every gap I pretend I don’t have. Danielle has a genuine, heartfelt commitment to our staff and participants. She consistently models what it means to be a true servant leader. Our team is stronger because of her dedication and leadership.”
Danielle has a broad background in healthcare. Before joining the PACE team, she worked in gastroenterology, cared for adults with special needs around the clock, served in Occupational Medicine and Employee Health at the University of Kansas St. Francis campus, and worked in wound care at St. Francis Hospital. These experiences deepened her commitment to helping others and shaped how she approaches her work now.
“Who enjoys going to work every day? I do!”

Danielle values the teamwork, compassion, and genuine care she sees every day at Midland Care, not just at the Topeka PACE Center but throughout the organization. She enjoys the events and volunteer opportunities that bring everyone together. When asked what makes Midland special, she quickly points to her coworkers and the positive atmosphere. “Who enjoys going to work every day? I do!” she says.
Danielle grew up in Osage County in a farmhouse south of Overbrook, which she remembers as ‘old’ and without air conditioning. She graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 2008 and has worked in Topeka since 2016. Danielle feels deeply connected to her community and prefers to stay close to home. This connection inspires her to care for her neighbors and matches the PACE Center’s focus on community.
When she’s not at work, Danielle likes camping, fishing, reading, watching sports, and being with her family. She spends a lot of time cheering for her children, who both wrestle competitively at Washburn Rural, and supporting her daughter’s interest in softball. Danielle is also a proud and enthusiastic Chiefs fan.
Danielle enjoys making someone’s day better and finds daily inspiration in her children, who encourage her to keep growing. She sees herself as compassionate, caring, reliable, dedicated, and calm under pressure. Others say she’s easy to talk to, always willing to help, and sometimes a little stubborn. Danielle is thankful for her role at Midland Care and looks forward to the future. She is committed to making a difference for participants, families, and staff. We are glad to have her on the Topeka PACE team and as part of the Midland Care community.
