Midland Care Connection and VNA KC Form Innovative Partnership

Midland Care Connection, Inc. and VNA KC have joined forces in an innovative partnership designed to lead in regional care services. This collaboration aims to preserve their respective missions by combining their strengths while enhancing service delivery.

Topeka, KS – Effective July 1, 2024, the Visiting Nurse Association Kansas City (VNA KC), one of the oldest home health agencies in the nation, will affiliate with Midland Care Connection. This partnership aims to create a more robust regional continuum of care.

Founded in 1891, VNA KC brings a rich legacy and dedicated service to 3,800 patients annually across 17 Kansas City metro area counties. With 125 employees, VNA KC currently cares for approximately 400 home health patients and 60 hospice patients daily. This partnership aligns two legacy nonprofit organizations with a shared commitment to providing high-quality care and ensuring a seamless and enhanced healthcare experience.

Under the new affiliation with Midland Care Connection, Inc., VNA KC will retain its name, mission, and brand identity, ensuring a seamless continuation of its operations and services. Midland Care Connection will become the ‘sole member’ of VNA KC, a strategic move that combines the strengths of both organizations, ensuring the long-term stability, viability, and growth of VNA KC while enhancing Midland Care Connection’s leadership in home health and hospice care.

“Midland Care Connection is investing in the Kansas City market through the addition of a PACE center in Olathe to serve Johnson, Miami, and Franklin counties and the purchase and renovation of a building in Kansas City, Kansas, to grow our PACE program already in Wyandotte county. The addition of VNA KC will create a robust continuum of care for community-based services and utilize the strength and quality care VNA has long provided,” says Midland Care Connection, Inc. President and CEO Shawn Sullivan.

VNA KC’s integration into Midland Care Connection reflects a growing trend in healthcare where independent nonprofit organizations collaborate to achieve greater efficiencies and extend their reach. This partnership will ensure a seamless transition for VNA KC’s clinical operations, causing no disruption in patient care. The combined organization will support employees and patients through transparent communication and detailed transition planning, maintaining the high standards of care they expect.

This affiliation underscores the commitment of both Midland Care Connection, Inc. and VNA KC to uphold their legacy of compassionate care while embracing innovative approaches to meet the future needs of their communities.
