Save Lunch – Make a Difference at Lunch Time!

There is a commercial airing for a matchmaking service called It’s Just Lunch®. The basic premise is you meet a prospective partner over lunch; if it doesn’t work – no big deal, It’s Just Lunch. For Meals on Wheels, it is more than just lunch. We’d like to invite you to be part of our initiative in March – Save Lunch.

Everyday Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver a hot, nutritious meal to over 800 homebound older adults in our communities. To them, it is more than just lunch. For some, this might be the most nutritious meal they receive each day, or the interaction with the volunteer may be the only interaction they have during the week with others.

Every lunch encounter is different, but all are equally important.

Be part of our Save Lunch Campaign in March. There are a variety of ways to be involved.

Be a lunch supporter! Imagine that for less than the average cost of lunch at McDonalds, you can provide a hot, nutritious lunch and a wellness check for an older adult in our community.

Be a Meals on Wheels volunteer! Deliver meals on a route during your lunch hour. You choose the day and how often. It is easy to be a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. For more information, contact Amy Barter at abarter@midlandcc.org or at 785.232.2044. If you are still hesitant, you can make arrangements with Amy to “ride along” on a route and learn more about the program and the people served.

March 18 -22 is Champions Week for Save Lunch! If your civic or church group would like to take part in delivering meals that week, please contact Jeremy Wiltz at jwiltz@midlandcc.org or call 785.232.2044. Make a difference today and touch the life of an older adult in our community – Save Lunch!
